I've just set up a new PC and I have some basic 2.1 speakers attached as I don't need surround.

I sometimes play with a headset which I'd like to connect via my keyboard.

My issue is that I can't connect the keyboard to the pc's speaker/mic (green/pink) inputs as this means I can't plug the speakers in.

I used to be able to plug my headset into the right speaker but unfortunately I don't have the option on the new set.

Any ideas?

I can connect it to the front panel already via the ports on the front of the case. The main reason I want to use the keyboard is to eliminate excess cable so my cat doesn't chew it.

Not the cheapest option by any stretch, but I have a Creative Z (OEM) soundcard and Gigabyte Osmium keyboard that works exactly as you seem to want. The soundcard has speakers permanently plugged in, alongside the connectors for the Osmium's audio pass through cables. My headphones then live attached to the keyboard, and I simply switch between speakers and headphones using the Creative software - no unplugging needed.
