Hi

Am going to be doing an upgrade/case change soon and would like to buy in a selection of heatshrink and cable ties to make things look neat and tidy. Where do people normally get these from as I don't think overclockers sell them.... I understand the anti-competitor policies on these forums so can people be subtle to stop the thread getting locked?

Cable ties - Any hardware store.

I pressume by "heatshrink" that you want the sleeving aswell.

If you Google " Sleeving Kits " it should through something up.

"A.C. Ryan" make a few sleeving kits.

Hope this helps :)

I find kits a bit crap, heatshrink isn't the right size as they usually only do 6mm heatshrink which is too big for some of the smaller wires.

"3mm Black Cable Braid / Sleeving" is the right size for fan/molex wires.

I used an A.C. Ryan Psu " Morf " kit.

- 4 types sleeving (3mm x 3.3, 6mm x 5m, 10mm x 1.6m, 12mm x 1.6m)
- 3 types heatshrink (10mm x 60cm, 20mm x 30cm, 25mm x 15cm)

Plenty of variations in the kit.

You will most likely be wanting some Expandable Braided Sleeving also?. As mentioned you can buy kits but I found them to be a bit generic and also overpriced. I just bought a nice selection of Braided Sleeving and Heatsrink online from a place that appears to be selling mosty kit for cars, nice prices so have a look around before you click buy now.

If you are using heatshrink you will need some kind of heatgun although ot is possible to do this with a lighter or steam from a kettle it slows the whole process down. An 1800w heatgun costs around £20, looks like a hairdryer and can be also used to strip paint from woodwork.

Yeah I have used electrical tape underneath the bit I used heatsrink on. Black electrical tape by itself isnt brilliant but does the job although with a little airflow hitting it then you can get it 'peeling' a little over time.

My experience was with a Vantec kit, how ever I still stand by buying separate as the place I get my stuff from is more dense woven.

Yes , I must admit , i had to double sleeve some of the wires , its not the best by far.

Didn't think to look at car part suppliers for sleeving :(
