Assuming you're within bandwidth specifications and the cables are of decent quality then all digital cables (DVI, DP, HDMI) will have the same image quality. In terms of bandwidth capability, DP > HDMI > DVI. There are different versions of each but this is a chipset limitation, not the cable. Any DP cable of similar quality will work with DP up to 1.4.
HDMI has 3 main versions, each with a "sub" version (+ Ethernet): (1) HDMI, (2) High Speed HDMI and (3) Ultra High Speed HDMI. They are all backwards compatible so if you get an Ultra High Speed cable then you're covered all the way to HDMI 2.1. A High Speed cable is good for up to HDMI 2.0a/b. Not sure on the limits of a normal HDMI cable but there's no reason to get one over a High Speed cost wise.
