Right, if I make the switch to cable (likely, i'm sick of 1.5Mb max on this line now) i'll be needing a new router.

I've been having massive problems getting bittorrent (or anything really, other than HTTP/IRC/MSN) to work on my current Belkin (got given it free, i didn't actually buy something Belkin make), so they can go suck themselves. I've also owned a D-Link router that may as well have been a modified walkie talkie for all the good it did as acting as a router.

So, any recommended models? (Linksys WRT54GL has been mentioned to me) I'm think Netgear/Linksys would be the way to go brand-wise?

Looking to spend around £50 tops. I don't need anything faster than 54Mbps, don't need thousands of meters of rangemax tech either. Just something that will work properly would be nice.

Question though:

That doesn't have a modem built in does it?. I assume that's because the cable connection has a modem and then I just plug the output of that into the router?

That won't work with ADSL either? or will it? If it does, would I need anything extra (I have a speedtouch 300 or something that pipex gave me years back)?

Thought so, was just wondering if I ordered it now if it would work on my ADSL connection before I got round to switching :p

well i ordered the netgear range max one at 108mbps so that i can get wireless all the way in the gaurden (well i hope). Its 70 quid tho but ill let you know how it works tomorrow iwht virgin anyway. it was ment to be here on friday but was not delivered lol.

O and if you ahve a 3 year old pc like mine you best check you have a ethanet port in the back. I found out i didn't have one when we got the cable on thursday *bangs head on table* i thought it was a usb modem :(
