Hey there, looking at getting one of the Cablemod kits but I know that one of the cables is only compatable with the "i" version of Corsair PSU's, I can't remember where I saw it but I presume that it's the 24 pin, anyway I think I also read that you can contact them and they will send out a modified version that will work, anyone know anything about this?

Also, they don't seem to do any Sata or front panel extensions so I'm wondering if the bitfenix or other extensions would match, I'll be getting either the black, or black and white kit.

Thanks.

This should help you: http://cablemod.com/compatibility/

I believe the AXi series need a different 24 pin compared to the one provided? Not too sure, but I think that's it.

Doesn't help me, I need to know if it's true that they will send a compatible 24 pin cable for the AX 1200 as the one included only works on the AXi 1200. They're support contact system doesn't work for me.

So finally got through to Cablemod support and they say they don't do this, so anyone know where I can get a full set of braided cables (not extensions) for a AX1200?

You really need to just use the contact form. I have an AX860 and they just sent me the 24pin for free with proof of purchase on the full cable kit.

Contact form doesn't work though, it just says it failed every time I tried, I was given the email address because of this so send them an email mentioning that I read they would do this and I got an email back:

"the information you got is wrong - our C-Series is not compatible with the AX1200 at all and we also do not have any sets for this PSU."

Your AX860 is listed on the compatibility page with extra text mentioning that you have to contact them for the 24 pin, no such thing for the AX1200, so annoying.

Thanks, looks good but £80 for just 6 cables in the basic kit is a bit ridiculous.

Custom made cables (assuming a 60cm wire length) costs are around £72 for those 6 cables.

(To be fair that is sleeved in Telios).
So that's only £24 for manufacturing + tool wear and tear costs which is pretty reasonable.

To make them yourself would cost you £72 + a crimping tool.
I bought myself a crimping tool because I like the satisfaction behind doing it myself.

I would be looking at far more than 6 cables, it would be over £58 more than the basic £80 kit in Paracord with combs or £65 in Teleios. Compare that to what you get for £70 with the Cablemod kit it's no contest in terms of value, that's 16-17 cables. plus that site is rather unclear on what I'd be getting, it says there is a basic kit but then you choose what you want including stuff that's in the kit, and I'd need one or two cables more than I can pick.

The Bitfenix extensions also don't come in the alternating black and white I'm looking for, so I don't know what I'm going to do.

No, I don't want to have to make them myself. :p

Buy 2 sets (One black one white) and take every second wire out to switch them over? :D

Technically the only 2 cables you need to buy twice are the ATX and the 8 pin motherboard.

The other option is that you could get the cablemod kit and adjust the ATX one yourself, you'd need an ATX pin remover and a PSU tester.

You could get both of these for less than £10

Like this, but you don't need anything this expensive

And the rainforest sells PSU testers for £3ish

Just get black or white, why does it need to be mixed? won't look any better or worse. In fact why can't you just use these with white cable and black ends https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CM-017-BX&groupid=701&catid=1428&subcat=2661

The fact that you don't agree doesn't mean that it doesn't make a difference to the OP.

Personally I think it makes a huge difference ascetically; Although
I guess I'd just use standard ATX / fan cables rather than making all of my own cables if this wasn't the case...

Pexon may cost more but you pay for what you get. Anything custom costs a lot. Why dont you just buy the cable mod kit and then get pexon to make your 24 pin to match if your not willing to do it yourself or pay for a full job.

With Pexon I bought the basic kit then filled in the order form over email which then gave me the final price which I paid the difference. For my AX860 24pin, 8pin cpu, 2x 6 pin pci-e, 2x 8 pin pci-e and a short multi plug sata all in telios it came to £110inc. I have done my own PSU before and would happily spend £100ish to have someone do it for me and end up with a better quality result.

Cant you use the DIY cable mod system and just make your own cables as the PSU is modular?
