Cables required for fan controller

I am putting together a build in a Corsair 900D case with two 480 and one 240 radiators. Therefore I will have ten radiator fans and four case fans. I will be using Corsair SP and AF fans and was thinking of using a six channel Lamptron fan controller.

Not having used a fan controller with this many fans before, I am not sure what to with regards to cabling. I would apprecate any advice about what splitter and extension cables I will need, or any other tips you may have.

If you buy PWM fans, you can chain them using a splitter like that and you will not need a controller if you have a good enough motherboard, preferably Asus. I highly recommend you to think about controlling sets of fans with your motherboard as a fan controller firstly is usually not automatic and secondly can allow the investment of that money into say a motherboard with better fan control, but it will lead to the same motherboard having other options too.

I do have a good motherboard, a Rampage IV Black Edition. presumably this will be able to do what you describe. Can this be controlled using software?

The AI Suite III gives you full control of all the fans, no matter if 3 pin or 4 pin but 4 pin usually allows better flexibility. Do not hesitate and use it if you do not like it, then buy a controller (I do not think you will need one given you have the OC Panel). The OC Panel you have should also work but I do not like it as design decision so I personally would stick with the 8 PWM headers you have on the motherboard itself. You can plug fans for each radiator on a different header, bundled together with splitters and control them depending on CPU's or other component's temperature.
P.S. Asus has the best fan control software in the industry so it will be a shame if you don't use it.
