Hello, today i built my first ever computer. I'm finding it difficult and need some help with the cables. I have installed everything apart from the graphics card and just looked at the masses of cables that need to be connect but i don't have a clue what to do with them. Is there any guidance you guys can give me on where they all go because im constantly worried that i might put one in the wrong place. As you can also most likely see i am very very new to computer building so will need basic terms and easy to follow instructions (if you can! :)) I honestly don't have the slightest clue what im doing with the cables. If anybody can help i will be very grateful.

My build if you need it:

Zalman Z9 Plus Black Tower Case - Black (No PSU) - With Fan Controller

Thanks, Sam :D

check the motherboard manual, it should say where each cable goes on the motherboard. Most of them will only fit where they are suppose to go, and are usually colour coded.

gigabyte boards tend to come with all the cables you need to attach your drives to your board the only other wires you need to attach is from your power supply to everything else.

oh and your fans to the headers on the motherboard.

dont worry to much about cable managment in a mordern case just plug all up and check it all works first.
once you know all is well then start to clean up the wires the Zalman Z9 has loads of space to hide them.

OK i have now started to connect the cables to the motherboard. I have a few problems that i do not know what to do with. First of all my manual says to connect a SATA cable. What is a SATA cable because i really dont know.

sata data cable from sata ports on motherboard.(see mobo manual) to hard drive or dvd drive the drives will also have a sata power cable to connect from the PSU again that should be in the manual or have a look on the drive you will see the connections.

OK but when looking at my motherboard there is more than one place to connect my SATA cables to. Also i have an SSD so will i need to connect that to one of the SATA cables.

you can connect it to any sata port on the main block of 6gb ones again look in the manual for the position of them

i would spend a bit of time reading the manual over and over so you have a minds eye view of it all

Best bit of advice I can give you right now is to take a step back and have a good read of your motherboard manual. Maybe a few online guides too. I know we all have to start somewhere but if you're still unsure as to...
What is a SATA cable because i really dont know.

Then I'd be taking some time to familiarise myself with all the basic componenets of the build before going any further. Otherwise you will almost certainly run into major issues.

dont worry bout it with research and a little reading you will get there.. its part of the fun of building a pc and places like this are a godsend tbh

never take one opinion take an informed view of the experience of many..

take your time dont rush less haste more speed as they say ...

and check what you do .. we all start somewhere and can only learn from others and then make informed decisions

damn was i just that sensible.... unlike me....

i have installed almost everything with little to no problems, all that is left is the graphics card and cables. As soon as i saw how many cables i would have to connect i literally though **** XD . I think i will get there in the end, just may need a little bit of help along the way :)
