I've read several threads on similar subjects, and there appears to be differing opinions on what is best, so I thought to ask for advice on my specific circumstances.

The point of contention is moving my Sky Modem away from the master socket. The master socket is in the dining room, and I want the modem in the living room... so that means running an extension from the master socket to the living room, where I will plug in the modem. I will then run cat6 to connect the modem, desktop PC (study) and microserver (under stairs). (I do not want to keep the modem in the dining room.)

My initial plan is to use these from Clarity (I don't think this is a competitor to OcUK):
Modified faceplate for NTE5 £11.85
xDSL Extension Kit £11.80

The extension kit uses cat5e grade twisted-pair cable. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to use normal network cat5e to connect modified faceplate with an extension socket in the living room - is this suitable? What about CW1308 over 10 meters - as good as cat5e or risk signal degradation?

Is Clarity a good option? Are modified faceplates from ADSLNation or Solwise a better choice? (Again, I don't think these are competitors.)

I just used a length of Cat5e and a standard Cat5e socket.

It only requires one pair in the cable. One end punches down to the dedicated terminals on the BT FTTC faceplate. The other end punches down to 4&5 of the Cat5e socket. You can then use a standard RJ11 to RJ11 cable to connect between the Cat5e socket and the modem.

I also need the voice line so I used one the other pairs for that going to a BT style extension socket.

I used euro modules so they share the same faceplate.

So I could use cat5e for the extension, which will only cost a couple of quid, and I have some standard (cheap) phone sockets (RJ11) kicking around that I can use instead of getting a new cat5e socket... yes? I know it's only saving £10 over the Extension Kit, but, as they say, it all adds up! (That saving can pay for a Krone tool!)

If I don't bother with the Clarity Extension Kit, I will probably go for the ADSLNation faceplate, which is a few quid cheaper.
