Hi fellers, quick question really.

My dad just asked me the following "I want to set up a network cable connection from the router in your bedroom to my computer in the basement. The cable should run through the bedroom wall outside along the wall and down to the basement.

Check first but I think will need to get Cat 5 or Cat 6 external cabling, with connectors and a cheap RJ 45 crimping tool plus some cable clips to pin the cable to the wall."

Is that right?

Make sure its cat5e and not cat5, Cat6a will work too but cat5e is cheaper and works perfectly fine for up to 1 Gb/s. Also make sure the total length between the devices you plan to wire up is <100m.

You could also get by using normal indoor cable rather than special stuff for outdoor use, but that's up to you.
