Saw the thread about the pci cables smoking, has got me worried slightly!

My RM850 comes with 3 cables each with 8pin and 6+2pin connectors. At the moment I am using just 2 cables(8pin and 6pin on each). An ideal would be 4 cables. However I only have three.

Would having 2 cables each to the 8pins only, then the last cable using both of the connectors to go across cards, eg filling both of the 6 pins, be better?

Thanks.

Personally I would not worry, same could happen with any combination, belongs they are firmly in place that's all can be done.

I am using a single cable from my RM850 to power my 780 and it didn't skip a beat even when I put 1.4v through the card and (according to MSI AB's Power draw graph) was drawing over 400W.

The only thing we need to worry about is the longevity of a chicony unit :D
