Am doing some cabling work for a friend for free as i want to get used to doing it and he lives in a cottage that has walls thicker than my whole house!
i need to drill 2 holes to get a phone cable in downstairs from upstairs,

What i wanted to know is how do poeple do this? do they do it on an angle or do they go in to the plastic window frames? whats the best way to do this?

Thanks
Dave

If you absolutely have to go outside then back in, drill the holes at a slight downward angle so water can't flow inside, then make sure to have a drip loop in the cable.

Pretty much as Caged said.....

Invest in a long drill bit, angle the whole to prevent water flow and pop some silicant sealent in afterwards to prevent water getting in.

Old cottage?
Good Luck drilling through mate, probablly has HUGE stones in exactly the place you need to drill:D
Well that has been my experience:(
If you are lucky the bit will either miss the big stones or `worm` off around them

Personally i'd avoid going through walls if possible. Window frames are much softer and easier to re-seal.
In the Industry cabling companies would usually hire a diamond drilling company to get through thick walls but for you this is probably not practical for a single phone cable.
