Hi.
Can anyone tell me what the following command does:
cacls d:\home\intake02\02adec /t /e /g 02adec:c
?

Im gonna be needing to create a new user group within the next few weeks, and im just looking through the stuff that the old techys did to see if they had to do anything special. But i cant work out what they've done?
Theres seperate OUs, and seperate GPs for each OU for each set of users, and they all get organised on the data drive into their own directory depending on which OU they are in, but for the life of me i cant work out how they've done it, i think im going a bit dense tbh because i used to know how to do it! :p

Thanks :).

Looks like it replaces the permissions on D:\home\intake02\02adec and all its subfolders letting the group 02adec change files.

Thanks for the link.

Is there an easy way to copy a GP from one OU to another?
Because i really dont want to have to go through the rigmarol of entering 100+ settings manually each year.:p

Would linking not make that GPO dependant on the GPO its linking to?

Errrr... what sorry ?

If your linking an existing GPO to an new OU then if you change any settings on the GPO it would change across the board. Its not creating a new GPO its using the existing one in multiple locations.

That doesnt appear to work, it just creates a shortcut of the GPO in the container i want.
I want it to physically copy it and rename it so i can edit a few settings.

Managed to copy it, and change the direction paths, however im having other problems.
Ive created 3 test users, logged them on, but none of them have areas on the server? Its set so that areas are created for them (according to GPE), but under the folder that ive got set for redirection, their areas arnt appearing?

Ideas?
