Hi,

i have been set the task to spec up some new monitors for our cad office at work.

We are looking for going dual 27" monitors, so I have been looking at slim bezal models. Also we will be buying 20 so I cant go mad on budget so would have to stick to 1080p.

I wanted 16:10 ratio but that seems to have totally gone now so 16:9 will have to do.

Ive seen there are MVA and IPS models around the same price bracket, we are in a quite bright office and our current TN panel monitors are very dull. One of the monitors will be face on to us while the other will be at an angle, so viewing angle must be good.

Was kinda thinking about this model as it has an IPS panel and thin bezal but there are no reviews anywhere really.

Any suggestions welcome :)

I do cad (more 3D rendering side) too so I'll give honest opinions :)

I'm not sure what you use now but I wouldn't bother with a 27" 1080p screen, it's just not worth it, all it will do is make everything 'bigger' on screen because the pixels are bigger. You're not really gaining anything over say a 24" 1080p except it taking up more desk space :)

As much as I support ocuk, I'd say try ringing direct to hp/dell business, they might offer up a deal for 20 monitors (actually ocuk might, try them first :)) and I have seen my current monitor (dell p2414h - this is using the 'cheaper' ips panels) cheaper than it is on ocuk.

As to the 'cheaper' IPS panels... miles above TN in quality and viewing angle and not far off 'expensive' IPS panels in my opinion. 250cdm2 is plenty bright enough for me personally too, especially after calibration (not bad out of box). Viewing angles is a good 160 degrees, you'll struggle to read text from the angle before colour shift etc although remember IPS has it's trademark subtle glow/sheen.

I can't comment on teh Iiyama but I've got no complaints with my dell, we might not like dell but they do some quality monitors for the price in my experience :)

when you do make that phone call it might be good to ask for ones with higher resolutions if you are thinking of going for 27" otherwise I too agree there will be not much improvement over 24" 1080p.
