I want to do some technical designs, I also want to render them...

So which Cad program? need to have lots of tutorials available and easier to use the better.

Can be free, tial versions or very cheap to buy..

Solidworks for the creation of the parts, Photoworks for the rendering.

I know Solidworks has a 60 day trial. I'm not so sure about the Photoworks add-in. It's definitely worth checking out.

Turbocad 11 Deluxe is what you want. There is a free trial bit it is only 15 days, it will cost you £60-70 which is superb value for a CAD program.

You can buy it in certain outlets, if you know where I mean, or online from http://www.cadcourse.net/ or at the TC site. There is also an excellent forum with lots of experienced users who will help you through the steepish learning curve required for all cad programs. Check out the gallery to see what you can do, when you get good. :)

AutoCAD is really complex for 3D. I generally use ProEngineer. Not had a go with Solidworks but from what I have seen it looks pretty easy.

Generally ProE and Solidworks are the industrial standard packages which most companies use.

Thanks I'll give this one a go. See how I get on.

AutoCAD is the best for 2D but as said it'll cost you. unless you buy one off ebay. 2nd hand copy will still cost you in the hundreds.

AutoCAD is not the best for 3D drawing though. I'd use Solidworks for that but I'm not sure on the price of the program.

But basicly AutoCAD is the standard for 2D drawing but you'll have to pay for it.

I don't get how to use it :(...

Is there any tutorials for amking a 3d shape and rendering it??

isnt there a way to draw it in the 3 views? and get it to combine them..

You now where you draw the top, front, side view ect..

If its anything like autocad youll have to give co-ordinates in 3 dimensions x,y,z
or alternatively draw the one side of the box,for example, you want to draw the extrude that shape to create a 3d box.
