should be fine for CAD work. to be honest at work our pc's are so weak its amazing they even run autoCAD. if you doing 2D work then ya pc will walk it, its 3D work that hammers them but 2 gig and a reasonable core will easily cope.

I'd ask why you are going for AM2 rather than Conroe but I seem to recall you saying that Intel are the spawn of satan and you would never buy one or similar, is my memory correct?

I don't know if an X1800XT might not be overkill for a CAD PC, you might be better with a 7600gt to save some money?

Antec SLK3800BUK Black Quiet Midi Tower Case - 400W SmartPower PSU (CA-048-AN)

Would you not be interested in the above case so you save around £30 so dont have to get a seperate PSU?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.20GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail (CP-168-AM) cooler included
£109.99 £109.99

If you will be overclocking theres not much point going for the 4200, as you can overclock the 3800 to 4200 + 4400 speeds ;) ...so u save a more £££

GX-044-CO
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO)
£119.99 £119.99

If you are a keen gamer I wouldnt go for that card I would opt for a gfx card with 512mb so that you can play on max settings at your full res...

Why'd you choose a 4200+, Locutus?

your memory is correct :) but hey at least im honest about it :D and as ive always said, i have nothing against intels CPU`s, just against intel.

p.s. the graphics card is overkill but they originally requested a 7900GT... so were already saving a little money.

Its an office pc, there will be some gaming on it im sure but nothing major, there also wont be any overclocking and require a branded minimum 430 watt PSU.
