Cafetiere recommendation?

Hi all,

My girlfriend and I mainly use cafetieres for our coffee, but the last couple we've had have been really annoying for letting grounds through... the strainers inevitably seem to develop folds or kinks which funnel the grounds. I think the last one was from John Lewis, not sure about the previous one.

Anyway, our current one was conveniently smashed this morning, so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good one?

Cheers

The mesh does wear out and stretch that's why they are replaceable in the better quality ones.

Also are you sure you have coffee ground for cafetieres and not for filters?

These days we mainly drink fairly generic stuff from waitrose, which is ground medium-ish, for cafetieres and filter. I used to order whole beans but my grinder vanished in one of many flat moves and I've never got around to replacing it.

Default course of action seems to be to buy something Bodum, then we can always be sure of getting replacement plates and other parts. Just wondered if anyone else had alternative ideas really.

It's expensive, but the Espro Press is probably what you're looking for.

There's a smaller version as well, which might suit the pair of you a little better.

That does look pretty amazing, but probably more than I can justify spending at the moment.

Like the look of this, but there doesn't seem to be much stock about - http://www.lacafetiere.com/cafe-boh...P3yLSdzbkCFbLMtAodJmcAGQ#sthash.Az7BDU27.dpbs. We tend to drink our coffee over the space of about an hour in little cups, so anything that keeps it warmer longer seems a good bet.

PS, thanks for the email. Sorry i didn't reply (was in a bit of a rush finishing my PhD thesis). My girlfriend got bored of my speccing and went out and bought a Bodum cafetier in the end, because it was orange. Seems fine though, no grounds and no shortage of replacement parts when things start to wear out.
