Caffeine

Anyway, coffee mings something rotten on the taste front.
:(

Coffee is the only form of caffeine I'll take. I can't be arsed with Red Bull and the other nasty energy drinks, and tea is a gayer's drink. Give me a cafetiere and a scoop of ground for each cup required (instant coffee is generally foul, but will do at a push), some boiling water, and a bit of milk (sugar only to be used in the aformentioned foul instant coffees, to allieviate the taste), and I'm a happy man. I love the stuff*.

*I could quit any time I want. I just don't want to. Honest.

I'm not a caffeine fan at all. I really don't like fizzy juice, so I don't drink coke, and I hate coffee.

I'm the same really, although I love the smell of Coffee. Whenever I have a coke (rare occasions) is get very hyperactive and generally make a fool of myself.

I used to drink lots of coke but ive started to cut that out now in favour of coffee, i didnt realy like coffee untill a few months ago when i ran out of coke for a few days so drank some coffee to try help my headache, and slowly i started to enjoy drinking coffee. I dont mind being addicted to coffee, i find it an enjoyable drink with a delicious flavour (if made right), and there are quite a few situations where i need that caffeine boost since im a student.

maybe in a few years when ive finished my degree and got settled into a job ill cut back a bit, but atm, i see no reason to try cut back as its benificial, as well as tastes nice :D

I think only thing i drink that contains any sort of caffeine would be coke, and i rarely drink that nowadays. So nope definitely not addicted. Nothing like a shower and glass of juice in the morning to wake me up :D

I hardly ever drink coffee! But i am always tired and have no energy in the day, and i sleep plenty! You recon a couple of cups of coffee a day would help?

Used to drink caffee(occassionally), red bull(often) and coke(like mad). Had no trouble stopping them altogether from about a year already and not planning to go back to them in the nearer future. Same applies for all sugary fizzy drinks and also alcohol. It may sound scary at first but its not so hard to do. In fact, part of my plan is not to bring all those down to 0(I may still drink a red bull once in about 3 months) but to minimize their consumption.

So based on my own experience, it seems like caffeine isnt very good at being addictive(I certainly thought of myself as being addicted at least from the coke).

I've recently stopped (well pretty much) drinking caffeine drinks. I used to drink ridiculous amounts of diet coke and coffee in a day to the point i would shake and feel very irritable.
For a couple of weeks after stopping, i felt very tired and weary and had plenty of headaches but now those symptoms have gone. I now sleep for longer periods at night and feel much more refreshed and calm during the day.

I used to drink quite a lot of coffee, then one day I realised just how often I drank the stuff, not addicted, but not healthy either, so I simply made sure there was none around for a few days to tempt me and never looked back really.

Dont ever drink any now.

I've given up my 4 cups a day habit of tea a few times. I've never had any of the withdrawal symptoms except feeling tired for a few days. After that I feel the same as when I'm on the brew, no different. The only thing is that when I'm tired (which I found was just as often as before), I don't have anything to resort to. The post lunch lull can be countered by drinking a cupper with your 'widgies, without it I feel lethargic.

Why is caffeine supposed to be bad for you at everyday doses? Most people here probably have no problems binging on alcohol which I'm sure does far more damage.

Increased heart rate, slight dehydration but in reality they are so slight it's pretty much irrelevant. In other words, no caffeine at everyday doses isn't bad for you
