Cal-Lab Lightning Isolators for Power Line Communications

I understand that it just filters the noise.
Any experts? Perhaps one who have used this kind of device before?

Well, I think it does not have to do exactly with the lighting causing interference, but with general electrical devices adding noise. I think the lighting part was in the original device (CLLI), then he thought and developed the PLC-CLLI using the same principle. (?)
