I can see why it’s worth the money to you! That’s a big dealYes.
The TS3 dock could as well, albeit with lower refresh rate. But I now have 2.5 GbE (which I do use), and I can plug in TB4 devices such as my Time Machine drive to the dock rather than to the laptop.I can see why it’s worth the money to you! That’s a big deal
Thanks that’s useful to know for work. I am assuming M2 and M3 will work too as native ability to output to >1 monitor has previously been limited to the Pro versions I believeThe TS3 dock could as well, albeit with lower refresh rate. That's just the power brick weight! This box is heavy, like twice as heavy as I had expected.

Learn something new everyday and like most, i would have never suspected that was the case. Although it's odd that Apple has it's own variant (of the TS4) but didn't include Superdrive/high-power mode off the bat.
Hopefully they get it sorted though.
I thought it was just a naming convention but it seems there is a difference between the TS4 and the Thunderbolt 4 Pro Dock.
Never used the eject function on my TS4 and don't own a superdrive. I'd have gone for the TB4 if I had known!Odd indeed, although a very Apple thing to do!
I’ve barely used the eject app on my TS4, but I have connected an optical drive a few times to rip old audio discs.
6 months ago I believe.Must be fairly new. Haven’t seen it before it was pointed out on here.
4 months after I bought my TS4… saves me spiralling into delayed purchase justification reflex!6 months ago I believe.
TS5 and TS5+ are about to launch and the dual controllers on the + means I cannot wait to see the pricing on that.
