Calibrating Monitor

I'd like some help calibrating my monitor, it's a Hazro HZ26Wi which I've had for roughly a year, I just never got down to calibrating it properly. It looks absolutely fine to me and other people that see it on movies/blu-rays and such played through the PS3, my brother has commented many times that my screen is too dark and questioned how I could even see when playing World of Warcraft, now that I'm onto playing a naturally darker game I can really see it, I can hardly see anything.

I've tried messing with Nvidia's control panel settings (much easier than the buttons on this monitor) however haven't found a setting to that looks "just right", my contrast was sitting on 35% which I increased to 100% and colours look a hell of a lot more vibrant, but it's just a bit over the top and reduding the contrast slightly doesn't seem to improve that.

My brightness sits on 55% and I thought simply increasing that would solve the darkness issue, however it doesn't seem to naturally change the brightness, just puts a silly grey haze over it. My current overall settings are 55% Brightness, 45% Digital Vibrance, 100% Contrast, 0.50 Gamma and 0 Hue.

Is there a way I can "fix" this using nvidia's control panel, or some other free software better available?

Any help appreciated :)
