I'm a novice at calibrating. Ive used DisplayCalGUI, Argyll 1.6.3, i1 Display Pro to calibrate an Asus vg278H (TN Panel).

Settings:

Whiteoint - 6500K
White Level - 120cd/m2
Gamma - 2.2 relative
Profile type - XYZ LUT + Matrix with Massive Test Chart
Brightness - 17
Contrast - 60
RGB - 100, 94, 77

However the contrast in the measurement report shows
Contrast: 525.3:1

Is that right? As I assumed contrast was supposed to be (x):1

Additionally does the calibration look okay to you from the report? Is there anything you can spot where improvement is needed? What is 05 under the # coloum in Summary? Why is one of the colour temperatures at 10% nearing 8500K when the rest are near 6500K?

Edit
Also the monitor has many settings that are greyed out like ASCR (dynamic contrast) and sharpness. How do I enable these?

Thank You

i assume that contrast ratio is just a measurement with a decimal place in it, so it's 525:1 if it was rounded down :) although that does seem a bit low for a TN Film panel.

in the calibration settings section change the options to

white point = 6500k, although it looks like leaving it on "auto" uses that anyway

black level= lowest or whatever you can choose to say you want to achieve lowest black point

not sure about the other bits as not used that software before. The odd 8500k reading looks a bit funny, have you tried re-running the process again? what about if you leave the OSD menu in a default preset mode (without changing RGB channels), but alter brightness as before and then let the profilation do the rest? what are the results then as sometimes you can get odd results and non-perfect calibrations in certain preset modes. i've seen that on a few screens so worth re-doing but in a standard preset mode and leaving RGB at default levels.

the software is probably decent enough. you could also maybe try the free trial of BasICColor as thats a decent package with lots of options. I use that, and also use LaCie Blue Eye pro for the reporting feature, as it's simple to understand and follow
