call Classifications

on my phone, i've had a few incoming calls and i'm not sure who made them.

when i go and look athe call details, the number says "private"

Anyway, what does this mean, and, is it possible that i can see/find out what the number is?

Its when the incoming caller has witheld their number. Dont think you can find out who it is.

If the calls are abusive or so on then you can probably make a complaint and get them traced, otherwise I doubt you'll be able to find out who they are, either there's a technical reason why the information isn't available (ie. calling through certain networks, from Skype, etc etc) or the person calling (or the company they're phoning from, etc) has chosen to withhold their number.

If they were abusive most of the telcos just change your number and won't give you the details of who made the calls.
