I think I may of buggered my N70 installing a VNC app today, it seemed to install fine (apart from it said it may not be compatible with the phone but since it's a symbian series 60 app I installed it anyway) but when I went to the menu to look for the link for it the menu crashed (froze). I pressed a couple of buttons and managed to get back to the phones main display, but now everytime I press the menu button the menu looks like its loading but it suddenly stops and disappears. I've tried turning the phone on or off multiple times but doesnt do anything. Since I cant get the menu up I can't get to the app manager to uninstall the VNC app. Does anyone know if there is a way to get to the app manager without going through the main menu?

If that fails is there anything I can do to reset the phone (wipe the app memory) without sending it back to Orange? I have Orange care but last time when my 6600 died they charged me a £15 admin fee just for swapping out the phone, I'd rather not go through that again for this minor issue.

Any help will be apreciated!

Normal Reset (*#7780#) : Restores ini files from rom but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)

Deep Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.

well i got on the phone to nokia and told them about a problem i had with my phone, and they told me to send it to them....so i did and they repaired it for free. So i'd reccomend doing that.

Lesson one, do not install random programs to your phone....

Would you install a program of unknown origin that said it might not be compatible on your PC?

The format codes given above are your best bet.

Normal reset didnt work. :( Hows the deep reset likely to effect the normal operation of the phone? Will it lose all the important settings it needs to work on the orange network?

Hehe yeh I know, but our uni network administrators have just gone badass and blocked a crap load of stuff so I cant VNC to my home machine anymore it even seems they've blocked FTP connections! So I wanted a way to VNC home while at uni, mobile phone client seemed the best solution.

You might need your WAP and MMS settings again, but apart from that, everything should work fine. You will lose all your numbers etc though.

Where did you install the app to? If it's the memory card then you'll need to format the memory card. Doing a factory reset only affects the memory on the phone itself.
