Not sure if this should be in this forum.

Just had one of those calls from Microsoft HQ, apparently I have big issues on my PC which isn't turned on (well it was actually) so could I turn it on and then they will show me how to make it better.
I managed to string the call out for nearly 7 minutes. I asked her which of my 6 PC's I should turn on and why I have to do it now as was night time and I should be asleep (it wasn't it was 12:10pm).
She got so angry because I wouldn't do what she wanted and said she would blacklist all my PC's even though she didn't know how many I had.
I then told her she was so funny and she got even more upset, finally hanging up on me. I wonder what she ended up saying about me afterwards ;-) do they know some of us are aware of them.
So as I'm about to get blacklisted and probably not allowed to use my PC's - it's been fun guys.
I have been waiting for one of these for ages, so much fun.
Is Microsoft HQ in California I thought it was Seattle, Washington. I could be wrong but she sounded Indian and I had trouble understanding her.
Andi.

I spent a good 5 minutes explaining how we don't have electricity most of the time, and the times we did were only when someone in the household used an exercise bike. I requested they stay on the line to allow me to fire up the computer in order to confirm the virus they said I had :D.

I've always wanted one of these phone calls! lol
If such a thing does come your way, it won't ever be just the one, though and THAT is why we hate these ****ers... I get accident claims, PPI and a few other bits of random junk, most of which is actually for Mrs Sheila Hunt, which is clearly not me.
If I have the time, or an audience, I explain that I'm her husband Mike and that I can't talk just now but ask them to call back in about 10 minutes.... hee hee!

My mum loves these calls - googles random technical words and throws them into really odd contexts until the person on the other end eventually gives up.

I fire up my Linux partition for these.

"okay, go to control panel"
"What control panel?"
Etc.

I've spent ages going through videos of these calls on YouTube. Some of them can get quite amusing once they realise they've been strung along.

We get quite a few on the landline. Mum usually answers and tells them we only have iPads. Never had one on my mobile but I do have a Windows XP virtual machine setup and ready for when they do.

I get them at least once every few months. I spoke to one of them about religion and said if he genuinely believed in a god then he must now have to accept he's going to burn in the hellfire for making a living out of scamming people and lying.

He paused for a minute before calling me a bloody ******* and hung up. Now whenever they try again I just hang up.

I hope I helped that one guy turn his life around! :D

Last time one of these guys phoned up - 'From Microsoft? good. I've sold my PC & I want to know how to install Windows 10 on my Raspberry Pi..... HELLO????? :D :p

My record is 47minutes. Finally get to the last step "Wait should my computer be on?" *hung up tone*.

I get at least one call every few weeks.

I figure the longer I keep them busy the less time they have to scam someone more trusting.

I can keep them busy whilst still working so doesn't bother me and provides amusement as they get frustrated with me.

"Hi I would like to talk about your phone bill" "I dont have a phone" *Long silence*

"Hi we're selling double glazing in your area for great prices"
"I dont have any windows"
"We do doors as well"
"I dont have any doors"
"What?"
"Precisely"
"Huh?"
"Indeed"
*Hung up tone*

:D
