call of duty 4 help!

Hi, ive been getting serious problems with CoD 4. my pc meets the specifications:

AMD athlon 3200+ 768MB ram ATI x1650 pro 512mb.

when i join a server, on the map loading screen my game crashes, freezes for 2-3 minutes then goes to desktop

any 1 no any solutions to this?

ive tried downloading old + new drivers for my graphics card and sound card .. still nothing changes, i have the latest direct x. and the 1.4 patch installed.

seems no-one has replied, ill give it a shot

When a map crashes on load its generally a problem within the config or the general installation of the game

Delete config and/or reinstall then try

How do you have your ram configured (3x 256mb, 1x 256mb + 1x 512mb, or 2x 128mb + 1x 512mb) ?

If I were you I'd start by removing any mismatched sticks, although cod 4 will get awfully choppy if you're running anything less than 512mb, even at low settings.

I had a problem with it crashing to desktop last week and the solution for me is to plug in headphones or microphone into one of the audio jacks.Not sure if you have the same problem tho. Weird but it works!

i have 1x 256mb + 1x 512mb and using XP
