Does anyone know if COD4 is going to have four-player splitscreen multiplayer like Halo 3? Me and my housemates are pretty addicted to four-player online Halo 3 and we were hoping COD4 will have the same feature.

Indeed, I still havent made my mind up whether I prefer it to Halo 3. Going on the beta of course. Not sure if I have the time for both!

Yer I loved the beta of COD4, played it too much! We're all addicted to Halo 3 online now though, going to be hard to fit in both. Love the ranking system on Halo 3 by the way, the seperate skill level and rank idea is brilliant. There are some great players online though, getting harder and harder now that we're all captains etc :p

Many people around one screen is the way games are meant to be played. Anti social gamers suck.

i agree with this, but it's bad for me, i can never get the hang of watching everyone else's screen an stuff and most of my friends do it really well...

guess I just suck. :(

much more used to things like CS where you (and only you) can only see your screen.

I think they have similar ranking idea on Cod4

I hate sharing a screen no matter how big it is. I'd rather thay had the power or option to connect to two seperate monitors or the way I prefer to local MP with 2 xbox's.

I hate split screen.

Although I enjoyed the beta I think Cod is going to suffer from coming out around so many quality titles. I didnt think it offered anything that wasn't already out and someone said to me the SP game is about 4 hours.

Most I saw MP at one time on Halo 3 was about 11/4 million so be interesting if Cod4 gets anywhere near,I dont think it will be far off from that figure

It looked great but what does it offer than say Rainbow 6 doesnt already do so well. I like the way R6 uses a cover system online rather than all that side step rubbish.

What does it offer that new or even a step up from an ordinary sidestep shooter?

I'm not slating the game I just want to know if I missed something in the beta.

On a minor tangent. Is there anyway to see how many people are playing on Live and what games they are playing? Always wondered how many were playing certain games.

I seriously doubt it will come close to that figure due to 2 reasons:
1. Halo 3 had a HUGE ammount of hype and advertising, plus the added 3 year wait to "Finish the Fight"
2. Halo 3 is an exclusive where as Call of Duty 4 is Multi-platform

Call of Duty 4 would have to shift a minimum of 2 million copies (on 360) in its first few days to even dream of coming close to that figure.

Dont think so, Bungie.net gives you the figures for Halo 3 (and Halo 2) and I havent seen anything like it so far.

I really enjoyed the beta for COD4, it kept me entertained for a lot longer than most other online console games (only really COD3, GoW and recently Halo3 have been able to). It gave me the same sort of feelings I got when I played CounterStrike back in Beta 6.0 days.

However it's coming out very close to the release of Halo3 and I'm really enjoying that too. Since I don't get an awful lot of time to play online, COD4 wouldn't get much play and with the large amount of AAA games coming out this time of year I can't justify buying it just yet. It's a shame really :(

It can be difficult at times but I do have a 40" HD LCD tv so that makes it much easier! ;)

You can have the biggest screen in the world. You are still only seeing a quarter of the intended resolution.

So good luck trying to get any worthwhile shots that require a level of accuracy.

It really doesn't make that much difference. Halo isn't like a standard PC FPS where pin point accuracy is important. Apart from having the sounds and visual interference from the other players it has pretty much no effect on your ability to play.
