Whenever I play Call of Duty 4, iw3mp.exe starts in the Windows Task Manager. However, if the game crashes or even if I exit normally, the process remains - and takes up HUGE amounts of memory and crashes aero. I am running Vista Ultimate (32) and right now it’s using 715,100K of memory... insane! How do I kill this process? As I have to restart every time I finish the game!

**EDIT** I have uninstalled it and reinstalled to no effect. I am lost :(

Thanks!

Not sure about Vista but in XP there is an UNLOAD DLL reg entry you can add that will unload memory. Not sure if this will help but its worth a google.

Thanks for the reply; I did have a quick look but anything to do with editing the registry I tend to steer clear of!

Just remember to save the registry to somewhere like you're desktop before you make any changes, if the changes make things worse then u have the copy available.

fairly simple change to make, guides on the net, just make sure you read carefully what it says and which sections of the registry to work through.

Are you using an nVidia graphics card with 169 series drivers? I had a similiar problem until I upgraded to 174 series drivers.

To kill the process, just go into Task Manager, find the Process and right click and select "End Process Tree"

Hi there

Yes I am running 169 drivers on the 8800GTS bfg
I did have a look on nVidia site and can’t see the 174's on download, still shows 169's, got a link to them? :)

To kill the process, just go into Task Manager, find the Process and right click and select "End Process Tree"

But doing that does not end the process. I have to restart

Thanks
