Call of Duty 5 will not start ?

Hello,

I have call of Duty 5 but when I select difficulty is goes back to select mission. You end up going in circles. I have read other posts on the net with people having the same problem but have found no solution, so I though I would try in here. my rig is as follows

Duo Core E8400
Gygabyte mobo p45
Vista gold ram 2x2 gig
Ati 4850
