Call of Duty Black ops and COD4 problem

This comes up in 2 of these games. 9/10 it will come on. Its starting to **** me off tbh

Anyone have any idea what the problem is please, please

I upgraded my computer to a sli system (new motherboard and cpu) would that make a difference ?

windows 7 btw

yes and it lowers the settings a great deal which couldnt be right at all

Running any kind of overclock on anything? I had this problems years ago with Cod 2 but i don't remember ever solving it, aside from a Windows reinstall at some point.

nope no overclocking

at the moment im in the middle of clean install so we see how that goes

Can you not just let the game reconfigure itself then increase the settings to what you know your system is capable of.

If the issue is the same as I had, everytime you start the game the message pops up, as if its detecting a hardware change.

I get this in about 50% of the time when I play CoD aswell. I just click No. It doesn't bother me enough to faff around trying to stop it as doesn't have any effect other than having to click no lol.

I do however have other issues with Blops that I've brought up before but no-one could help

I've had that from time to time, particularly after a crash.

Just click no and forget about it.

This happens all the time on COD4, normally after a crash sometimes when you /quit in the console. Click no or it will reset your .cfg back to defaults. When possible quit the game properly. It isn't an issue at all, just click No as McGray stated and everything will be fine. Nothing after that will be affected.

since iv done the clean install it has reduced the problem

Had this a fair few times on COD4, it might have been another issue but I seem to recall its something to do with audio drivers (realtek)? something to do with the mixing sample settings I think, I'll have to have another dig about.

When CoD loads it detects your system config. If you have a processor or GPU that slows itself down to save power and heat, then the game will detect the hardware as different. Simple answer, although I'm pretty sure it can't be stopped.
