call of duty ghosts sudden sharp fps drop (micro stuttering)

Hi guys, I am experiencing many sudden big fps drops in COD Ghosts. One second ago I am having over 100 fps then suddenly drop to 10 fps for a second then back to normal. Then 10 seconds then it drops and back to normal again, very annoying. Fps is ranging from 10 - 1xx. I have tried all 3 patches / max to default quality / move the core voltage up and down on Afterburner/ OC or stock but still having the same problem.. I have even tried Matt's Radeon Pro but for some reasons it makes no different.

It is only happening in this game, no sudden fps drop in games like Crysis3 / Hitman Absolution etc

Please help :(

my spec:
I7 3770K @ 4.1
7990 with Matt's bios
8gb ddr3 ram
Mantle 14.2

If those three are your main games, would drop the beta drivers. I play on my 290x using non beta drivers and it has been smooth for a long while.

What does GPU utilization look like in GPU-z during a match?

It isnt in the new fog map specifically, is it?

So you use the 13.12 driver?

GPU utilization has been ok, constant 9x% in Crysis3 and <90% in COD Ghosts

nope, I just started, fps problems in space and the first mission.

Ghosts unfortunately runs like garbage all the time on my cards. only when crossfire is off can i get some acceptable framerates (which are still quite shocking considering its cod).

Try with 13.12 or whatever the latest WHQL drivers are.

Then try with one GPU core disabled and report back.

Sure FPS are far lower than what the game should have considering the 'grunt for eyecandy' trade but it shouldn't be so low as to let FPS dip below acceptable.

This is unrelated to the issue but the CPU usage in this game is pretty gash at times, clocking the 3770k up a bit more will net you a few frames in multiplayer (especially in the new fog/mike myers map).

@Dockie
Ghosts didn't like my fx 8 cores very much when i loaded it with decent GPU grunt. Even clocked at 4.8Ghz i was averaging low 70's utilization in multiplayer with a high clocked 290x. Was still playable but was lame that GPU was going to waste a little. I would imagine that you could net a few frames yourself if you could pump it to 4.7 or 4.8 and keep comfortable temperatures.

Just move back to 13.12 however the problem is still here...
However I have noticed the GPU utilization is very poor, the first 1min is ranging from 0%-50% something like that, then it begins to go higher to 70%-90%, but themicro stuttering problem is still here...

noob question, how to disable one GPU?

You can either disable crossfire by deselecting it in CCC or you can set a custom game profile in CCC which will automatically disable crossfire for that application only, but will continue to run crossfire in all other games.

It runs very poorly regardless of setup sadly. One of the worst PC ports ever made, especially when you compare it to Black Ops 2 which is silky smooth on any settings.
