Just started the game and approx 15 minutes later it crashed with a application hung error. Check gpu z and saw a whopping 2.9gb of vram usage.

What's going on people?

I really need to stay out of vram threads. :D

What card were you using? Have you altered your page file size?

I'm using 7970 matrix platinum. I have not altered the page file.

Just did a verify game cache on steam and was missing a few files. I installed it from the dvd. Will go at it again and report back.

Probably just poorly coded!

Apparently the PS4 version at 1080p has massive slowdown in certain circumstances, yet the Xbox 360 version (720p) runs no problem at 60fps.

Just tried it with a hd7990 and cod is using 12gb system ram and 6gb vram crazy, must not be reading it rite.

Halve your vram usage as afterburner will report double. 12gb system ram sounds crazy though, why would it use that much?

Memory leaks/just using what is available. Having played and finished it last night, system mem usage for the game never went beyond 2.2gb, the game crashed once, it was pretty demanding for the quality on show. It most certainly doesn't need or required 6gb system memory, and most certainly won't use massive amounts of video memory.

Less so with system memory, more so with video memory, it will just load up whatever it needs then fill the rest with cache. If your video card is using 3gb(on a 3gb card) it doesn't mean it NEEDS 3gb, it only means it's using 3gb. It could quite happily run using 1gb and it's simply leaving anything spare in memory in case it is used again to save reloading it, using the extra memory as cache basically.

Just had another bash and while it hasn't crashed, it's using over 2.9gb of vram according to gpu z.

I am also now seeing artifacts. Gonna roll back a driver before contacting asus as it's starting to confirm my suspicion that my card has some problems.

Just give it a go and it must not be anywhere near 3gb as I only have 3gb vram and its smooth as butter. As for system ram it was a couple of gig max

Excellent explanation DM and pretty much sums it up to a tee....+1 internets :)

Thanks.:)

Got rid of the artifacts it seems by going back to 13.11 beta 6.

Having a blast, really enjoying it now.
