Like most of you, I am pretty saddened and angry at the decision to remove all dedicated servers from MW2 because I played MW1 religiously with a clan, thus dedicated servers were a must. I signed the petition, raged on forums etc etc. but now I've calmed down and actually thought about it... none of the guys I used to play with were going to be playing this anyway (they're all addicted to WoW like it's crystal meth or something) so I'm considering re-pre-ordering lol.

Thing is right, with all the postal strike nonsense, I'm thinking it might be easier to just get it off Steam? The reason why I'm creating a thread instead of just doing it is because there were a number of issues with the first game and World at War on Steam (as opposed to DVD version) and I don't wanna go through that bullsh*t.

I read somewhere that MW2 is getting A LOT of Steam incorporation? Can anyone confirm this? Would this mean that even the DVD versions of the game would use Steam as a platform for friends etc?

Last I heard it was using Steamworks so yeah, afaik, at some point everyone is going to have to tie it to Steam in one way or another.

I would have thought that it allow you to use product keys from retail to activate on STEAM seeing as STEAMWORKS is integrated.

I say that, I am not entirely sure they have gone for FULL BLOWN Steamworks integration though, only portions of it.

Infinity Wards PR sucks big hairy ones.

I thought it uses the Steam anti-cheat client (VACS), so to play multiplayer, everyone would have to have the same anti-cheat client, unless they make it so you can't play people with different versions of the game.
