call of jaurez choppy frames

i was playing through it today on xp 32, and it plays awful in some parts, the first town for example, most of it looking around sends my frames seriously down, yet some parts fly so smoothly.

i dont get it, is this game really badly ported?

its really annoying.

I used to get hit bad like out in the open, but I did have everything on high so that was probably why :p
 
killing shadows from high to medium made it stupidly smooth for me. I got a bit of chugg in floiage with high shadows on.

However i seem to remember the towns having the highest fps.:confused:

yea me too, i remember the lowest fps being out in the open.....like when you have the horse
 
I played most of it with an x1600xt!! Towards the end of the game the card struggled, I upgraded my card around that time to a 7900GTO and it ran fine after that.

Its the grass that kills the frames, so try turning the grass density down. I remember looking out over the town near the beginning of the game was a real frame killer even for my mates x1900xtx.
 
cheers guys, i tried the sli option, still the same problem, and the shadows, same problem, so ive uninstalled it and reinstalled splinter cell double agent lol.

ill try CoJ tonight at some point.

also, switched from shader model 3.0 to 2.0 still no joy.

im using 169.69 drivers.
