Call of Juarez - Worth installing?

I got a copy free as well, it's not a great game but will pass a few hours and the setting is at least more interesting than WWII :)

Its not a bad game by all accounts, it had its problems. But then its got a wonderful setting, visually beautiful and can be enhanced with some DX10 trickery (if you've got the cards). Weapons could be a little better and the story could be a little less fast paced, I like to explore :(.

I myself have only played around an hour so far but its got promise.

Looks great although be warned it seems to eat VRAM for breakfast. Setting textures to high absolutely decimated my framerate (down from ~50fps to ~12fps) compared to medium on my GTS320. My guess is even 512meg cards may struggle with high textures in DX10 mode, but YMMV.

Haven't really played that far into the game yet, at the first town. It's the kind of game I seem to play for 5-10mins then leave it for a few weeks.

I personally really enjoyed it!

The preachers bullet time thingy was particularly good fun.

Bit short but a good blast none the less. Probably a couple of days worth of gaming to be had.

I played it using an 8800GTX @ 1680x1050 on full settings (DX9) with no problems so your GTS will be more than capable.

I really liked this game. The graphics maxed out are really nice.

I couldn't get online at all, just froze at the multiplayer menu and its a known problem, something to do with the servers or something. I might try it again sometime.

IMO, one of the most underrated games of the last couple of years. I absolutely loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed the combat, it looked beautiful and was really well told.

I absolutely loved the sections as Ray, as the funky slow-motion aiming thing worked really well. The sections as Billy were quite fun too, but a bit frustrating at points. It was a very original game, and I can't say I've played anything like it. I really enjoyed the story, and the graphics were pretty good so my computer hated it. I would recommend it to anybody, and if you've never tried it go and play the demo.

I also believe that it has DX10 features, so an added bonus there - I'm unable to try this out, due to being on XP and having a graphics card thats about as ancient as Stonehenge.

One of the few games I've actually completed, and I play a lot of games. The level design and graphics are really top notch, and the story and characters make it much more of an absorbing experience than souless games like Crysis. The length is about perfect too, short and sweet like CoD except not stupidly short.

I can't believe we played the same game. I absolutely hated it and recognize nothing from your description. The levels are apallingly badly designed, the whole thing from animations to the horribly weightless movement screams amateur hour. Despite the praise of its graphics i found it to be a very ugly game. Too much bloom and radioactive colour schemes hurt my eyes outside and indistinct baddies against a dull repetitive background strained them inside. Worst of all is the big red cross that replaces your crosshair every time it moves over something the devs decided you shouldn't shoot. Surely the most jarring and crude solution possible. Wahey for being treated like adults...
Someday they'll make a decent cowboy FPS but this ain't it.
