Dear Call of Duty Community:

As you recall, we announced plans that we were working on our second Title Update for Call of Duty 2, improving the Xbox Live multiplayer functionality. We’re happy to report that this update is currently in the final stages of testing and all is going well. In fact, we will be releasing it soon, so stay tuned. To give you a better understanding of what we have been working on, the second COD2 Title Update will have the following enhancements:

1. Player Lag has been addressed

Plus, we have added the following functionality:

2. Private Game Lobbies / Reserved Slots

3. Enabled the Live Host to set custom game options

4. Map Preferences setting

5. Post Game Lobbies (all players at end of match will return to their game lobby)

6. Enemy Player Name Notification

7. Ability for the Host to kick a player

8. In game Lobby - Game Type, Map and Host Notifications

Again, thank you for your support…and stay tuned for future updates!

And so it starts, the patching of console games. I can hear the EA head office screaming for joy as they can now officially release unfinished games with subsequent "title updates".

This is why i like xbox 360 and xbox live they listened to the users and they seem to have addressed all the issues and faults for the game. :D

PC games are no different.

point is, Console games shouldnt need patching. Especially since you can pay almost twice as much for a game on a console.

These features should have been there in the first place.

Can you join a game once its started BTW?

Exactly, and look at the awful state of many rushed PC games; Released only to have a patch that actually renders the game playable days later.

I do share you're concern that 360 developers could get lazy, but let's just cross our fingers they don't. developers have been able to patch xbox games for years and it doesn't seem to have done much harm so far.

You obviously new to the xbox then, this has been happening since xbox live orginally started with the xbox 1. It's nothing new.

i think its important to bear in mind that cod 2 was designed very much the same on console and PC, i played at quite a high level on the PC and now im on the xbox, i can now see why some problems on the PC version exist

its to easy to hit people on the PC version, we thought it was poor hitboxes, but on the console version its so its easier with the controller , its just been ported across.

Hence some problems with the game are shared

+ id much rather have the ability to patch than no patch at all.

P.s mark souness you better not b any relation to a certain graeme sourness!!!

Console games should not be plagued by the same problems as PC games, It isn't as though developers don't know the hardware configuration of the end user?

With the games market being more aggressive than ever before publishers are going to rush release a lot of titles.

On the flip side, as long as patches are released in a timely manner, it shouldn't matter too much!

I may have missed some over the years, but this is the first time i've seen an Xbox console game that's needed a "fixer patch" to sort out something broken. Of course, they have also taken the opportunity to add some new features, so it's not so obvious they are just finishing an incomplete game.

I was thinking the same thing. I've seen added content often, but never a correction to game system files to sort an error.

Er, it's not like we're playing bomberman on the SNES..things are a little bit more complicated these days. Thing are far more difficult to program and problems are likely to be missed...thankfully we can have fixes.

Didnt want to start a new thread, so thought id post in here:

Ive been keeping an eye out for COD2 in the games shops/supermarkets around town when Im out with the missus in the hope I can convince her to buy it for me. It's just THAT good mate, that everyone is buying it and that no-one wants to get rid of it!
