Hi all,

I am enjoying this game, it's really good once you get into it, the only thing that is bugging me is this pause I get when I am running it happens every 20 secs or so, but it's a big pause. Is this normal?

I would have though with my setup it would be stutter free?

i've played s o c and clear sky and the same happened to me. it is annoying but you are not alone, i dont know why it happens maybe other forum members could shed some light on it.

Have you tried it with one graphics card installed?

I would say that this stuttering or 'long pause' that you are getting might be due to either using a dual gpu set-up, or (and imo most probably likely) perhaps it's an issue with the game itself.

I wouldn't say I have ever had that frequency of pausing when playing any of the Stalker games but I do know what you mean. Iirc Stalker might be one of the games that tends to run better on ATI hardware, or maybe I'm thinking of Clear Sky.

Since I currently don't have an nvidia card I therefore don't have any feedback to go on about the latest drivers. Have you changed drivers recently?

It's a world streaming issue I think.

Annoys me too, especially when games like Just Cause 2 can do it seamlessly.

Might be worth defragging your hard drive.

I've seen people mention this before, but didn't really notice when I was playing it through. You've got plenty of RAM so my guess is a driver issue?

i get this as well on my rig i managed to make it less noticable by reducing view distance i think the game has problems loading all the textures once you pass a threshold, pretty much was happening to me every 20 seconds or so. Try fiddling with the graphics settings and you can make it a lot easier on the eye

I bought that game
first 5 mins my character got stuck on a fence and got killed by radioactive pigs
I never played it again and steam said the pigs weren't a valid reason for a refund ...

thanks for the answers, I love the game, you have to give it a chance as in the beginning its a bit dificult to work out what's going on, but I love the fact that you can play it so many different ways.

I think it must be a texture streaming issue, and it's not nvidia specific as it's even worse on my uncle's 5970. I do have everything cranked to max and running at 2560 x 1440 so i guess it must be quite demanding.
