Hi,

Just a quick post to ask for some advice. I joined a new ISP last week and my ADSL max came live on Tuesday 18th July. So I am now on day 7. (I migrated from a 1MB connection)

Firstly my setup: I have an ADSL faceplate instead of the BT faceplate and I am running CAT5 to my Netgear DG834 router. (Line stats are the same at the master socket so no wiring problems)

Ok heres my problem. Mainly in the evenings while gaming I am getting disconnections, now I reckon this is down to an extremely low Downstream SNR. My downstream stats at this precise moment are as follows:

Connection Speed: 4032 kbps
Line Attenuation: 57 db
Noise Margin: 2 db

Now I am pretty sure the low SNR is what is causing the drop outs. Surely ADSL Max should be starting to connect at a lower Line speed in order to up my SNR?

Is there anything I should be doing or that can be done?

Cheers

Nothing you can really with your equipment really...best off getting in contact with your ISP and ask them to turn the SNR target margin up a bit which should help with the stability but would also lower the speed a bit. Other solution is interleaving, but that pushes your latency up a bit (in to the mid 30s usually) so might not be ideal for gaming.
