Calling all 2.0 channel stereo experts! Is this a worthwhile upgrade?

There sure to be different.... But what are you trying to achieve?...
Basically unless you've heard a speaker and had a demo don't waste your time or money thinking to buy it..... Go listen :)
 
The above guys are bang on the money. No demo, and I wouldn't even entertain the idea of changing the Focal's for the Dali's.

It's all well and good someone saying this speaker is better than that speaker, but buying a potential upgrade is not as simple as that; at least not when you go higher up the hi-fi ladder. Your amps will be different, and the most important factor, your own hearing is different. No one else can account for that.

If you buy them without a demo, and you may find the Dali's are a worthwhile purchase; but on the other hand, you may prefer the Focal's.

It's too much money to be spending, just to take someone else's word for it.
 
If you're desperate to spend some money then invest in some room treatment. If the room works better then you'll reap rewards with your speakers now and any changes in the future.
 
Very good point, Lucid. I remember a thread sometime ago, where the guy who spent around £6K on Dali speakers, treated his room, and got a noticeable benefit.
 
GIK acoustic room kit #4 ... That's 11 bass panels and traps!!!! £888..... Try matching that improvement with electronics and speaker changes :eek:




Been there, done it, and got the room to prove it :p...

This TBH, + your room will be different. As already posted, room treatment may bring greater benefits.

On a side note, there's a couple of pairs of ex-demo Tannoy DC8T speakers available for around the same price as those used Dali's(not both pairs together obviously), would these be a worthwhile upgrade?;):D
