Right i have a friend at work that has asked me to find him a new gpu - roughly around the £100 mark - only problem is i have no idea when it comes to AGP as i use PCI-E

So what card should i recommend him?

So far i have choesen either -

BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail - £103

or

Leadtek GeForce 7600 GS 256MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail - £82

Which one would be the better card? does the double memory on the BFG make much of a difference

If you must go 1st hand then the 7600gs 256mb is a good bet.

the 512mb doesnt do jack for mid-low range gpu's, even on top end stuff it makes a small difference.

If you look around, 2nd hand, you can pick up 7800gs' agp for around £100 which is much faster.

It your budget will stretch to it a 7600GT is probably the 'best bang for the buck' on AGP at the moment. Its miles ahead of the 7600GS and not that far behind the 7800GS.

 Hi,

As said above, if he can add a few extra quid? go for the 7600GT as this would be the best option with a nvidia based card with out going OTT on price. ;)

7600GT, GDDR3 memory for a start and just better in general, they can be picked up for around £110 to £135 new ;)
