Is my 5960X faulty?

is it stable when using it? stock and or overclocked?

software can always be buggy

I also get this in Tomb Raider when running the benchmark sequence LOL.

Has anyone ever seen Lara Croft die in the benchmark sequence? Well you have now. :D

Matt,

There is a separate thread on here somewhere about this very issue, but I can put your mind at rest:-

OPI - quick path interconnect, will fail on these proccessors as it is old technology and not supported on the Haswell E chips. So - if you go to settings or edit menu, can't quite remember which of the intel test program you can select edit and then untick the qpi path. You will then find you can run the full test, and it should pass ok. This is what I did on mine and it was fine.

Hope this helps

Mark

Thanks Tipes i will try that. :)

EDIT

Passed all tests now, thanks Tipes. Back to the drawing board then!

Not yet guys. Tried 5 different gpu's, four different ram sticks. It's either the motherboard or the cpu. I've got another 5960X on route so will try that out and if i get the same issues, then it must be the board. Worryingly this is the third Rampage Extreme V board I've had, the first two had pci-e issues as well.

My new 5960X arrived and what do you know, no issues at all now. Lara no longer dies in the benchmark sequence, i don't get flickering in every 3d application. I had a faulty cpu, i don't believe it. I'm now doubting if any of those motherboards were faulty, maybe it was the cpu all along.

In other news my 4x290X 8gb cards have arrived, time to assault the benching threads! Happy days. :)
