edit: ive temporarily fixed it by manually assigning the IP Addresses for networking into the adapter settings (IPv4) - it seems to be the auto-negotiating of DHCP but only after a set amount of time has passed does it start happening - anyway its fine now but ive alerted Giagbyte to potential driver conflicts as IRQ and FIFO tests failed on the adapter and the adapter crashed after those tests. im not the only one with the problem but the other person also has a Netgear Router like me (not same model) so think its related

i have a GA-P67A-D3-B3 board and I know someone with the black GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 board that has this problem with this LAN chipset and im wondering if anyone else has?
- Realtek Gigabit LAN 7.046 Driver (shows as 7.46 in windows device management) on windows 7 64-bit
confirmed this problem on F3 and F4d (which shows as F4c in bios)

the LAN will be working fine, connecting to the router via lan within 1-2 seconds once windows is loaded, we have an SSD installed and it takes a mere 15 seconds to get to desktop after POST screen.. internet is available within 1-2 secs (normal) and will be for few reboots and few hours, now what happens is all of a sudden (a few hours later) when i boot into windows 7 it will not connect.. a red X appears over it.. THEN a yellow triangle with ! in it, when hover mouse over it says identifying...it connects after APPROX 64 seconds .. ive opened the connection settings and watched it each time and its approx after 1:03-1:04 up time it connects... my router is a Netgear DG834GT 100Mbps and works fine with all the other PC's..it aint the router as it works for a while - I can fix it by doing a fresh re-install of the driver (uninstall, reboot, reinstall) - when I reboot after that its fine... for a few reboots its OK connecting almost instantly... then it will just start doing it again..I will boot into windows and it will take 63-64 seconds to connect and continue to do so for every boot until I re-install driver again, does this about 2-3 times per day when on all day/night. - like i say another Z68X-UD4-B3 user has same problem

I want to know if other Gigabyte users with this realtek gigabit lan chip have the same issue?

im at a loss with it, gigabyte have not replied to emails sent 2-3 days ago and forum mods are ignoring it now even though theres more than one person on thread with problem

also just found out 1600Mhz memory is reported as 1333Mhz in windows CPU-Z ...someone else with same prob on GB forums ONLY WHEN USIN F4D (F4C) BIOS

thanks

Observations from my GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3:

I have installed the latest Realtek LAN driver, but have not used the LAN (connect wirelessly). However, it appears to be fully operational, both in BIOS and Windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit). My guess is that the problem is with the DHCP on the router. Worth trying with a fixed IP address to see if it will solve the problem.

Memory: I have 16Gb of Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey (2 of http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS) running very happily at 1600MHz, 9-9-9-27, set to 1.5V (BIOS reads 1.536V). All I had to do was select the XMP profile in the BIOS, then go to the voltages and set the DIMM one to "normal".

I have a few Gigabyte boards that I use. My LAN was detected and just worked when I plugged the cable into it. I am on Win7 by the way. P67A-UD5 board.

I have a new Z68X-UD7 sitting here in the box and I can plug that in for you to test.

Have you made any changes to your BIOS at all? Often the issue is with your BIOS settings. Other thing I can think of is you might have two or three devices that are using the LAN to communicate, Skype and my Vid camera software do not play nice together. Once I got rid of the Skype addon in my browser I stopped having LAN issues - this was P55 chipset by the way, but might have something to do with your situation.

its not router , like i said in my post it works just fine but few hours later (and few reboots) it wont until i re-install driver- other users have same issue - i manually set it and it took 30 seconds to connect then wouldnt after rebooted.. I think its bad driver conflicts - realtek diagnostics show IRQ test fail

its BIOS version F4d that reports iff memory speeds... anyway its the LAN what im needing sorted, Ive reverted back to F3 bios as F4d reported wrong memory speed in windows

the person having the issue on the Z68 board has no similar hardware or software installed other than Windows 7 64-bit

after I used realtek diagnostic program the LAN crashed and wouldnt work at all until done a cold boot (z68 user was same)

ALSO, when computer is off my router shows yellow light on its ethernet...like its stil recieving a signal from it but its not correct? or offline?

Ah right I see yeah.

Let me see what I can pull up if I play around with some of the different realtek drivers that I have here. I think you are spot on when you say it sounds like a driver conflict. Can I ask did you let Windows automatically update the realtek driver? I did that once and it gave me no end of problems. Now I do not allow it to auot-update and only use the specific one for my NIC.

no, I installed it directly from gigabyte website .. version 7.046 (shows as 7.46 in windows) ive uninstalled it and re-installed it about 15 times over 5 days

when installed windows says PCIe Gigabit GBE Family Controller ..but its not on PCIe its on the motherboard? - it may share PCIe lanes and I think thats where the corruption lies as IRQ test fails (and after running the realtek diagnostic programs tests the LAN wont work until cold boot)

is there no way to disable Gigabit so its 100Mbps same as router? this may help?
when I tried to resolve issues in windows it said something like "check to see if device is in deep sleep"

all the things that are happening point to conflicts..
1. randomly after 3-4 hours and few reboots taking approx 64 secs.
2. when PC is off router shows orange light on LAN port, indicate still receiving signal
3. Diagnostic tests fail on IRQ and FIFO

ive temporarily fixed it by manually assigning the IP Addresses for networking into the adapter settings (IPv4) - it seems to be the auto-negotiating of DHCP but only after a set amount of time has passed does it start happening - anyway its fine now but ive alerted Giagbyte to potential driver conflicts as IRQ and FIFO tests failed on the adapter and the adapter crashed after those tests. im not the only one with the problem but the other person also has a Netgear Router like me (not same model) so think its related

P67A-UD4-B3 here. Never had a problem with lan or memory (XMS3).

It has been rock solid..

ive got a newer driver than whats on Gigabytes website.. they have wrong date on there to as when it installs it says its much older.. newer driver from http://www.station-drivers.com/page/realtek_lan.htm

even realtek dont display the full driver version like gigabyte (on website) so its hard to see which it is

gigabyte website = 7.46.531.2011
station drivers website = 7.046.621.2011

i installed it a couple of hours ago and set everything back to auto... will report back if its still the same

Spent the weekend trying to duplicate your problem mate but failed. I used all three routers I have in the house, but do not have a netgear router. All worked perfectly no matter what I tried to do.

If there is a problem with DHCP on a router, usually the best approach is to try and find a new firmware for the router. Netgear are usually good (but not excellent) with updating flaky firmwares. The on-board Realtek lan and its drivers are on dozens of motherboards and while nothing is perfect, they are mostly fine.
