The mother of a really good friend of mine won a court case a few years ago regarding wages from an employer. The mother is owed around £3000, but the Employment Tribunal does not have any power to enforce payment so the only way this can be done is by issuing a Warrant of Execution.

She has tried many times to issue such warrant, but every time the bailiffs come back saying that the person in question does not live at the property.

She used to work for a care home in Leicester called Jalaram Jyot, owned by a Mrs N. V. Kotak, but this home has since been closed down and no forwarding details left.

We have been asking around and found out that Mrs Kotak has a few properties in Leicester, but whenever the bailiffs visit apparently no such person lives there.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what could be done about this? Other than knocking on every door in Leicester we have run out of ideas. I have even tried calling every Kotak in Leicester (from the details found in the BT Phonebook) but have had no luck on that front - Mrs N. V. Kotak may not even be listed in the directory.

It would be quite lucky if someone on here knows Mrs Kotak or knows of a care home resident, but I am not holding my breath. The OcUK community is quite widespread, so you never know ;)

Full name rather than initials?

any addresses rather than whole cites?

Dunno what you can do really, could you sell the debt on to some bailiff company?

Current address: 185 Kashmir Road, Leicester, LE1 2NE.

Also linked to 83 Checketts Road, Leicester, LE4 5ES and 119 Peebles Way, Leicester, LE4 7ZD.

She's got quite a few judgments against her totalling around £40,000. You're unlikely to get a bean back.

Sorry guys, my skills lie in the sleazier internet half of PI work :(

If anyone needs to know whether their mate has any embarrassing online activities I could probbably help :p

You need to get your bailiffs to watch "pineaple express" ......thats how its done ;)

I would suggest giving your local county court a ring, maybe they can offer some advice, you may have to start proceedings against this person for non payment, but then all the court will do is send thier bailiffs after them so it might not accomplish much in the short term.....does this person have any assets that could be siezed?

Private debt collectors have no power unless they get a court order, all they can do is write nasty letters threatening to take the debtor to court, and they usually pay peanuts for bad debts, sometimes as little as 10p per £1 owed.
Better off taking them to court yourself, and when you win, the courts (real) debt collectors have power to take cars/property in lieu of money owed.
