Calling all P5E owners - fan control and q-fan question

Hi all you Asus owners out there. I have a question re the fans on a P5E. According to the board spec, I have 4 fan headers on the board; 1xCPU (4pin), 1xPWR (3pin), 2xChassis(3pin). I've hooked up my two input front fans to the Chassis 1 connector via a splitter, the rear output fan to Chassis 2, CPU fan (4pin Arctic) to CPU (duh!) and my blowhole fan to PWR. All the fans are being reported correctly in BIOS.

Now for the questions:-

1. When I enable the q-fan feature in bios, the CPU fan NEVER gets faster than 650-700 RPM, no matter how hot the cpu gets

2. I disabled q-fan and loaded Speedfan instead. It reported only 3 fan speeds (CPU, Chassis1&2) but only gave me 2 fan controls (1 controlled the CPU fan and the other controlled the front/back chassis fans as a single unit). After running it like this for a week I'm now only able to control the speed of the CPU fan.

Can anyone recommend me some fan controller software that works with the P5E. I've sent the writer of SpeedFan a system diagnostic and he'll try to get around to adding it in the future. I was wondering what you guys do though to control your fans.

Cheers
Matt.

I use speedfan and it works fine, it needs to be configured properly first though.

Disable Q-fan, go to speedfan --> configure --> advanced

Select the first windbond sensor (ISA), set the mode of the channels you want ot control to manual pwm mode, and then the remember it checkbox on the bottom right.

And you also need to make sure PWM Type is switched to PWM output instead of DC output.

Then you should be able to control all the fans through speedfan.

As far as i can tell, Q-fan does'nt work properly. In fact most of Asus' software is a load of rubbish. I either have my fans on a fan controller or volt modded.

Thanks gurusan, I've made some progress. At least I'm now back to where I started from which is control of the front & rear case fans (on one control only) and the CPU fan.

However, I'm still unable to see any control for the blowhole fan which is connected to the PWR fan header, and why am I unable to control the front and rear fans independantly? As you can see from this image, the PWR fan doesnt seem to be being registered at all :-

One last thing... Is SpeedFan able to monitor my GPU temp/fan as well?

Thanks for the help so far.
