Calling all photoshoppppers! How to get a text pack/more fonts?

HI, just wondering were to obtain more text/fonts for photshop.Ta!

A good site for fonts is http://www.dafont.com/

Click a font, then the download link, open the zip file, and copy the .ttf file to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts

Photoshop reads from your system fonts so just go browse and download as many fonts as you want and just place them into the windows/fonts folder (or the fonts manager if on OS X ) and then launch Photoshop and they will be all listed.

I wouldnt go nuts though. Firstly, with some time and care standard fonts are all you need. Secondly i remember reading somewhere that having a huge amount of fonts installed severely slows down your system.

This? Says 1000 fonts will slow windows down by 40%

Remember too that if you're working on more than 1 system (with the same piece of work) the machine without the fonts installed wont display them. I/e you design your text at home using your nice downloaded font. Take it to work and boom, Times New Roman.. carry the fonts with the file folders tbh.

True. But in this forum i'd assume we're talking about image work and so that wont be a problem

thankz guys..its more for sans serif..fonts, currently doing advertsing @ uni and the macs thier have thousands of fonts, i always have it missing when i try work on stuff @ home. ta

Strange. I've got truck loads of fonts in my system, and on the laptop. I see no slowdown at all on either of them.
