Calling all Saitek X52 (and pro) owners - a quick question

Hi guys

I'm looking at getting either the X52 or the pro version for another £20, price isn't the issue but I was wondering what the best model would be for space games?

I'm thinking of:
X-Wing
Tie Fighter
Freespace
Descent
etc.

I'm not a *edit* realistic */edit* flight simmer but I am more of a space fanatic :D

I've been reading that the X52 Pro is harder to push as you get to the edges of the stick...in a space sim you are whizzing about all over the place so do you think this could cause a problem?

Would the X52 (blue and spangly) or the X52 Pro (looks the business) be best for my needs?

Thanks! :D

Hiya

I have manged to own both the X-52 and X-52 pro and to be honest there really isnt to much different, the X-52 pro has a double spring on the joystick which makes it slightly firm to move but really the difference is small. The X-52 pro feels a little bit better made but really there is hardly any difference.

Hope that helps :)

For space games you might be better off with something simpler they seemed aimed more at the sim crowd.

The satiek cyborg ones are good and very customisable/comfy.

Have to agree and they are both great for flying.

Thanks for the posts guys that's really helpful! :D I guess it comes down to what colour I would prefer (or more likely which comes into stock first!).

It's put my mind at rest, I think the standard X52 would be great for my needs...can't wait for a few days off at Christmas to have a blast with them.

Tefal - I've actually got an older joystick, it's a Saitek Cyborg Gold (I think it's called) and it had a throttle on the base of the joystick itself, I found that I was forever reaching across my body to move it and ended up using the keys instead.

Also Tie Fighter (and Freespace from what I've looked at) have hundreds of key assignments so assigning them all to a stick would be fantastic!

While I'm wittering on...can anyone recommend (or remind me of) any flight sims that go from anything from:

Fully arcade:
Pacific Warriors
Terminal Velocity

Semi realistic
F22 Lightning 2/3,
F22 Raptor

To more realistic ones (blast from the past)
TFX
EF2000

Yep, I've not played flight games in a loooooong time, I'm totally out of touch.

I don't have the patience for fully realistic but different games from the catagories above might be fun.

Thanks! :)

Wings of prey, ww2 fighter game looks amazing.

Can be set to more sim like or arcady.

Still it's worth a look at the cyborg evo, the throttle i s still on the base but is in the centre back.

I have the saitek pro for flight sims blackshark lockon e.t.c for the games you mention it would just be a waste of time 90% of the sticks penitential would not be used.

But if you have money to burn and like the looks go for it :)
