My dad has asked for a putting mat for Christmas along with a couple of other ideas. Anyone know if they're worth it or just a waste of space? And if they are worth it, which are good?

Thanks in advance!

I would personally say they're a waste of space, but there's probably golfers out there better at putting than me that use them and hey, that's what he's asked for so go for it.

I can't recommend one as they're not really my cup of tea, may as well just practice putting on the carpet :p If there's an American Golf near you, might be worth popping down there see if they have anything in, they'll be more than happy to offer advice and take your hard earned for one.

Edit: This one looks pretty snazzy, gets good reviews as well http://www.americangolf.co.uk/balls...tour-indoor-&-outdoor-putting-mat-220993.html

Yeah I've seen that one (and some non-PGA branded ones which are identical and half the price). As someone who plays a bit of golf I just look at that and think it's a bit pointless as you're always aiming for the same hole on the same terrain from a very small range of distances. The ramp at the end will just make you over hit holes on flat greens too.

He actually asked for something to help him practice putting as opposed to a mat so I don't know if there's any alternatives?
