What are you experiences with this mouse? I've been down to a local pc store for a bit of a "hands-on" and I do like the feel of it, and button layout, but I've heard the drivers/firmware are a bit poo.

So can anyone with experience of the Habu comment on it? For all I know, any software issues have been resolved, but would like confirmation first, one way or the other.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi

I use one, its a great mouse had it since Sep 2007, however it has been discontiuned my MS now.

A number of users myself included have got the wirebreak fault, where the cable goes into the mouse, it has a small break in it, so you can be moving your mouse, you will get the USB unplug and plug in sound, then all carries on working, also it has a habit of thinking you double click when you single click sometimes.

However I have just rang up MS, to get mine replaced and I am being sent a Sidewinder X5 as a replacement so not too bad.

I dont use the software

The Habu is a great mouse one of the best for the price imo, software, firmware can be tricky to install on a X64 OS but you dont really need it installed,

Oh... this is why I want to replace my current mouse, having recently developed this double-click thingy.

On Vista 64 here, but if you can get by without it, fair enough.

As for being discontinued, I see it still available in a few places, including OcUK, so should be okay to buy reasonably soon.

Thanks for the feedback lads.

I use one as my main mouse. I do not use the software though because no matter what I change the settings to, the precision over short distances (e.g. trying to get to the corner of a fussy window) is just awful. Using normal drivers and just using maximum speed in the Windows mouse settings, as well as Enhanced Precision, it's great.

Also, the first one I owned developed a problem whereby it'd double-click when I only clicked once. After contacting Razer, they said I should contact MS regarding the mouse. However, there was no mention of it on MS's UK website. So instead I contacted MS via the US website and they shipped a replacement from the US that arrived within 2 days without me having to prove the problem or return the faulty product. :)

I have one and love it. I don't install the software though. As long as the left button fires my railgun, the right button works for jump and one of the thumb buttons selects my lightening gun then it's all good :D

Seriously, I never use the software that comes with mice.

My girlfriend has one, she really likes it. I've used it a few times and its pretty good. She doesnt use the software either.
