Hi,

Well just finished setting up my WC kit, and mounted my Apogee GT block on my C2D setup, problem is when i first booted up i went into the BIOS and found the temps to be 70+(idle:eek:), which is odd because the chip the E2140 is not only lapped but was running in the high 30's low 40's with the intel stock cooler.

Furthermore, I went into rivatuner and found my 8800GT to be running at 33 idle so I know the CPU temps must be down to some poor mounting.

Looking at some reviews i noticed that the screws are mounted from the other side of the motherboard and then some springs and nuts are used to tighten it from the other side (i.e where the cpu block is ).

I had the apogee mounted with some screws from the front and thats it, so can someone please shed some light as I looked around and cant seem to find these springs that are used to mount the apogee.

The standard mounting kit has spacers that you place between the block retention plate and the motherboard to stop you over-tightening it. No springs, just 4 screws, 4 spacers, some washers and a backplate.

Got springs with mine too.

see log when I installed it the wrong way round here

I thought the backplate and spacer were for the AMD fitting
as I needed my own backplate for s775

The fitting kit I got from a competitor recently had white plastic spacers for the GT and black plastic spacers for the GTX. And no springs!

Just checked the swiftech website and it looks like my came with the optional hold down kit for socket 462 - as I also have the extra top plate.

I'm the third owner so didn't know this was an free extra - quote from site below

An optional hold-down plate raising kit is available for socket 462 motherboards featuring tall capacitors in the neighborhood of the socket. This kit raises the hold-down plate and allows up to 0.900" clearance (measured from motherboard to hold-down plate. The part # is AP-S462-R. This kit is available free of charge to users for all Apogee™ water-blocks purchased prior to 2-20-06

Sorry for confusion - wasn't have a go WJA96, just didn't know they'd changed it *hangs head* good to know a backplate is now inc
