hi all i have a asus P5N-E sli mobo and cannot get the 3GHZ that i want.

i set the FSB= 1336
Memory = 668 (unlinked)
Multiplier=9

what im i doing wrong? luckily this mobo resets itself when bios configs go wrong

can someone point me in the right direction please.

brilliant thanks, should have searched myself really read the link dosnet really help me with my problem though

I ran mine at 3GHz for a couple of months, 100% stable, 333 x 9 = 3GHz
I didn't need to do anything special, but try using LINKED, it is generally more reliable.

3GHz should be easily achievable, it is above that where problems strike

sorry i am a complete noob when it comes to overclocking can you be more specific please 333x9? what is that for?

I can't recall what the exact BIOS settings are. Apart from setting voltage and timings manually, memory was on "auto" which in my case gives me a memory speed of 800 because that is what it is. In your case it will give 667 because that's what you have

sorry about long reply mate i have just been messes with the bios and machine woudnt boot again had the windows needs to repair your installation maybe the voltages need to be messed about with thanks for your time on this

One word of warning.

If your going to have 6Gb of RAM in that P5N-E SLI and your going to overclock the processor, make sure you have a fan blowing on the Northbridge Heatsink as they get extremelly hot.

That could possilby be the reason as to your bad overclocking at the moment.

still no good ive tryed to adjust the volts on the NB and on the Vcore and still wont boot past the bios screen

ive tyred the memory both on linked and unlinked

havent got a clue what to do next

I missed the 6GB of memory bit.
333 (or 1333) is fine with 4 x 1GB but I have not tried this with 6GB. I have booted my machine successfully with 6GB (but not 8GB) just as an experiment but didn't try overclocking with that amount of RAM. Still, I'd have thought it would be fine

i have 2x2GB of OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-5400C5 Dual Channel Vista and 2GB of
Aeneon 667mhz do you think i should take out the Aeneon i havent had any memory probs and have ran mem test a couple days ago

do you think i should take out the Aeneon....

Yes.

You have 2Gb of budget memory thrown in with 4Gb of mainstream memory.

The OCZ will probably overclock quite well if left there on their own as opposed to having the Aeneon in also.

Budget memory is made to be placed in machines that run at stock really. They are not made for overclocking although saying that, I did have 2Gb Samsung 533Mhz that I had at 667Mhz for nearly 2 years.

Take the Aeneon out, try again and see what you can get.

im going to admit defeat on this one
ive even lowered the mulitplier to 7 and set the FSB= 1716 and ulinked and linked the memory and still will not boot past the bios screen.
i know ppl say this board dosent like quads but this is ridulous!
