Is anyone from these areas? I hear Camberley is really nice, good night life too. Farnborough is a bit dead. Avoid anything Aldershot way at all costs.

I'm looking at houses around this area, one of them here specifically

The one above is a bit far from rail links (would have to drive to the station) but is close to the M3 for when I need to get into the West London area. Don't care about traffic as I can leave whenever I want (not 9-5).

Any advice about the areas? I take it in Camberley the night life is along the London road?

I went to college in Farnborough, has its nice and bad parts like any place. I'd stay away from Cove and the Hawley end (Near the ghastly orange Lock N Store building) Although Hawley it's self is quite nice. Best parts of F'boro are up near the Airport. The town centre is horrid though.

Camberley is quite nice, town center has everything you'd need. All the pubs/bars/club are located on the high street, just off the London Road. You've got your usual Goose/Yates/Whetherspoons, Que Paso, Envy(Only club afaik) and a nice place called Square bar just round the corner.

Indeed Aldershot is horrible! Steer well clear.

What a perfect thread for me; I live about 2 miles away.

Right, that area the house is in is actually a new build estate, no more than 5 years old. It is very near the Deepcut barracks too. Local shops (off licence, groceries, takeaway places) are about a mile down that main road.

Heatherside, which is off Bisley rd, is where i live. Fairly quiet and a very nice place with huge park always packed with ppl playing or walking dogs. Sainsburys central in heatherside, wuth pharmacy, dentist, etc. Useful. Sometiems kids hang around there, but probably about the least disturbing ones u r going to get. Driving range/ golf courses/ good schools nearby.

Well, Camberley, obviously the closest town centre with all the generic high st shops and all pubs as described above. However, on Friday and saturday nights, it does tend to become a bit of a chavfest. When i am back home, me and my friends still go out there tho (altho not chavs at all, we would much rather have a gaming/pro ev/wii night in).

Not much in farnborough bar shops and lots of businesses, oh and large retail (B&Q sheds) parks.

/edit: avoid the Old Dean in Camberley (north of London Rd). Cheap but chav central.

I agree it is a bit far from train stations and not many buses around that deepcut road. Buses serve frimley, camberley, f'boro much better. 35 mins from F'boro to London. Traffic at peak times but otherwise usually free roads.

Close to Guildford and Woking too.

p.s. apologies for bad typing, I have a plastered finger.

add me to msn for any questions. :)

Hmmm, nice area then. Shame it's a bit far from anything but I have a car so no bother really. It's just nice to be able to walk home on a weekend sometimes!

Is there ever any trouble from the Deepcut barracks? I'd guess no because it doesn't have any of the negative stigma that somewhere like aldershot has.

The old dean isn't actually too bad now, it's got a lot better over the last 5 / 6 years. Still not denying it's got a lot of chavs in it but it's much more undercontrol (it's possible to control chavs :o )

I've just been down there and realised I knew the area. It's a fantastic area, lots of space, already up and coming.

I like it, didn't so much like the house though :(
